JETHRO TULL - This Was - Island ILP 985/ILPS 9085 - UK 1968

mono/stereo, laminated gatefold flipback sleeve with ”wide” spine, without printer’s credit;

1st UK issue (mono/stereo) has a “rough” textured pink Island label with deep groove centre ring, “black & orange eye” logo to the left of spindle hole, butterfly Chrysalis logo to the right & outline company name at bottom label just above catalogue number;
Mono version has released in two label variants:
1st has “ILP 985” & “℗ 1968” to the bottom of the label, without “MADE IN ENGLAND”;
2nd has “ILP 985”, “MADE IN ENGLAND” & “℗ 1968” to the bottom of the label, with Rights Society “BIEM” credit under the “black & orange eye” to the left of spindle hole;
Stereo version has released in three label variants:
1st has catalogue number “ILPS 9085” & “℗ 1968” to the bottom of the label, without “MADE IN ENGLAND”;
2nd has catalogue number “ILPS 9085” & “℗ 1968” to the bottom of the label, radial text “MADE IN ENGLAND” on the lower outer rim;
3rd has catalogue number “ILPS 9085”, “MADE IN ENGLAND” & “℗ 1968” to the bottom of the label, with Rights Society “BIEM” credit under the “black & orange eye” to the left of spindle hole;

• 2nd UK issue (stereo) “Printed and made by E. J. Day, London.”, has a “rough” textured pink Island label with “black block” company name/logo around spindle hole,  “Made in England” printed in black small text on the bottom right hand side of the label, butterfly Chrysalis logo the left;

• 3rd UK issue (mono/stereo) “Printed and made by E. J. Day, London.” has a “rough” textured (or smooth) pink Island label with (or without) deep groove centre ring, large “i” logo at bottom of label, black lettering, catalogue number “ILP 985” or “ILPS-9085” & “℗ 1968” to the far left of centre hole, butterfly Chrysalis logo to the right, “island records mono/stereo” black perimeter text, “island records” in white text to the bottom of the label, mono version has a “BIEM” credit printed under track list just above spindle hole;

• 4th UK issue “Printed and made by E. J. Day, London.”, has a textured pink rim “palm tree” Island label with deep groove centre ring & black printing, “Side ...” & catalogue number “ILPS 9085” to the far right of spindle hole, just above “℗ 1968” & black butterfly  Chrysalis logo, multi coloured company name/logo to the bottom of the label;

• 5th UK issue “Printed and made by E. J. Day, London.”, has a smooth pink rim “palm tree” Island label with black printing, “Side ...” & catalogue number “ILPS-9085” to the far right of spindle hole just above “℗ 1968 Island Records Ltd.” & butterfly  Chrysalis logo, multi coloured company name/logo to the bottom of the label;

• 6th UK issue “Printed in England by Robor Ltd.”, has a green Chrysalis label with red butterfly logo & red company name below spindle hole, without "i" logo & without radial text, catalogue number “CHR 1041” to the far right of spindle hole just above “℗ 1968 Chrysalis Records Ltd.”;

- value for LP in mint condition: £ 400 (“black & orange eye” mono)/£ 200 (“black & orange eye” stereo)/£ 110 (“black block” stereo)/£ 90 (pink “i” mono)/£ 75 (pink “i” stereo)/£ 45 (1st “pink rim”)/£ 30 (2nd “pink rim”)/£ 25 (“green” Chrysalis)
